Prepare for the class
Check out the curriculum for the course you are signing up and consider asking the trainer what you need to bring to the class. Invest time outside the classroom to work with your puppy for reinforcing what have been taught in the class. Remember, repetition is essential for learning and retention.
What to expect
Usually, a doggy training course runs four to eight weeks with weekly classes for an hour. The training may include basic training, social behavior and training related topics for curbing undesirable behavior like tugging on the leash or jumping.
Dog training courses are not designed for addressing and solving all sorts of behavioral problems of your dog. The primary goal is providing a solid foundation on which to grow, learn and bond.
